Presentation by Nutrition and Dietetics Students at the 9th International Health Sciences and Life Congress

Istanbul Gelisim University Department of Nutrition and Dietetics students Hilal Kıran and Nuran Yiğit presented their TÜBİTAK 2209-A project on artificial intelligence and digital nutrition at the 9th International Health Sciences and Life Congress.

Students of Istanbul Gelisim University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics presented their study at the 9th International Health Sciences and Life Congress within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 2209-A Research Projects Support Program for Undergraduate Students.

The study was prepared by Department of Nutrition and Dietetics students Hilal Kıran and Nuran Yiğit under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Hatice Merve Bayram and Prof. Dr. Arda Öztürkcan, faculty members of the department.

The research titled “Evaluation of the Relationship Between General Attitudes Toward Artificial Intelligence, Generative Artificial Intelligence Acceptance, Literacy, and Digital Nutrition Behaviors among University Students” examined the relationship between attitudes toward artificial intelligence, generative artificial intelligence acceptance, artificial intelligence literacy, and digital nutrition behaviors among young adults.

The cross-sectional study was conducted with 300 university students studying in Istanbul. In the study, participants’ use of artificial intelligence applications, artificial intelligence literacy, acceptance of generative artificial intelligence, and digital nutrition behaviors were evaluated. The findings showed that as generative artificial intelligence acceptance and artificial intelligence literacy increased, digital healthy eating literacy also increased. However, students’ trust in artificial intelligence-supported nutrition applications was found to be limited. The study reveals that the effective use of digital nutrition applications is associated not only with access to technology but also with artificial intelligence literacy and critical evaluation skills.

We congratulate our students and supervising faculty members for their valuable contributions and wish them continued success in their academic studies.
