Message of the Head of Department

Dear Students,

With the rapid development of technology and the industrialization process, the changing social structure has led to significant shifts in the fundamental factors of life, especially in eating habits. There has been a noticeable increase in the prevalence and number of nutrition-related diseases, starting in developed countries and spreading to developing ones. This situation, which is a consequence of our time, can be addressed through the effective efforts of you, our valuable students who are receiving a comprehensive education in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, covering basic medicine, clinical medicine, and food sciences, and will be working under the title of "Dietitian" after graduation in various health-related fields.

Dear students, once you graduate from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, whether you are engaged in scientific activities in academic environments or providing active services in the field, you will play a crucial role in increasing the knowledge level and quality of life in society, ensuring sustainable nutrition, maternal and child nutrition, elderly nutrition, sports nutrition, nutrition of dialysis patients, enteral and parenteral nutrition, diet therapy for diseases, implementing safe practices in institutions providing mass nutrition, and in preventive healthcare.

We wholeheartedly hope to see you, our valuable students who have chosen or will choose our department, as "Dietitians" who are aware of the responsibilities of the profession, adhere to ethical values, respect individuals and society, contribute to their country, possess the knowledge to advance their profession on both national and international platforms, question, research, learn, and continuously update themselves, both during your education and in your professional lives after graduation.

With love and respect...

Assoc. Prof. Hatice Merve BAYRAM
