“Fahrettin Altay Pasha has a question that has been haunting him for a long time: Why did Mustafa Kemal Atatürk proclaim the Republic on October 29? Why was this date chosen and not October 27 or November 1?
One day, Fahrettin Altay approached Atatürk at the Çankaya Mansion after dinner and expressed this situation that had caught his attention: “Pasha, is it a coincidence that the proclamation of the Republic falls on the night of October 29? Could it have happened three days earlier or five days later? Mudros is October 30th. Republic 29 October. This is the promise of an oppressed nation.”
Asist. Prof. A. Yüksel Barut, shared this story and explained Atatürk's mastery of time management and why the Republic was proclaimed on October 29. Asist. Prof. A. Yüksel Barut, emphasized the importance of the event by saying, “Because Mustafa Kemal Atatürk managed time as well as he managed a huge army.” He concluded his speech by saying, “I wish many years under the rule of the Republic, happy to be a Turk”.
The event continued with the participation of retired Ambassador Uluç Özülker. Retired Ambassador Uluç Özülker talked about Atatürk's military genius, rationality, resilience and leadership, and emphasized that Atatürk was the people themselves, illustrating the people's belief in Atatürk with the story of an assassination attempt. Retired ambassador Uluç Özülker said, "Atatürk's success was the success of the Turkish soldiers and the people." He concluded his words by saying.
The event was organized by Asist. Prof. A. Yüksel Barut, presented a plaque to retired ambassador Uluç Özülker and ended with a saz concert by the Nursing Club students.
