“Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Health Sciences” started its education as “Istanbul Gelisim University School of Health Sciences” in the 2012-2013 academic year, with the Council of Ministers Decision dated 08.08.2012 and numbered 2012/3620, published in the Official Gazette dated 10.09.2012 and numbered 28407.
In the 2012-2013 academic year, students were admitted to the departments of “Nursing, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Social Work.”
In the 2013-2014 academic year, with the addition of the “Audiology” Department, our School comprised six departments.
In the 2014-2015 academic year, with the addition of the “Health Management and Healthcare Institutions Management*” Departments, our School had a total of eight departments (In 2015, these two departments were merged under the name Health Management by the decision of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK)).
Additionally, in the 2014-2015 academic year, with the opening of the English-language versions of our first departments, “Nursing, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Social Work,” the total number of departments in our Faculty reached twelve.
In the 2015-2016 academic year, with the addition of the “Occupational Therapy” Department, our Faculty comprised a total of thirteen departments.
In the 2017-2018 academic year, with the addition of the “Prosthetics-Orthotics and Perfusion” Departments, our Faculty had a total of fifteen departments.
In the 2018-2019 academic year, with the addition of the “Speech and Language Therapy and Gerontology” Departments, our Faculty included a total of seventeen departments.
On 15.02.2018, thirteen of our departments received full accreditation from the Accreditation Agency in the Area of Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS). Detailed accreditation information can be accessed through the AHPGS website.
Our Faculty, which took its first step in the 2012-2013 academic year with 190 students, continues education in the 2024-2025 Fall semester with 3,834 students.
With the Presidential Decree numbered 3203, published in the Official Gazette dated 25.11.2020 and numbered 31315, the “School of Health Sciences” was transformed into the “Faculty of Health Sciences.”
Starting from the 2021-2022 Fall semester, no students have been admitted to the Healthcare Institutions Management Department.
Starting from the 2020-2021 Fall semester, no students have been admitted to the Gerontology Department.
Starting from the 2020-2021 Fall semester, no students have been admitted to the Prosthetics and Orthotics Department.
Starting from the 2021-2022 Fall semester, no students have been admitted to the Social Work (English) Department.
