History of the Faculty of Health Sciences
“Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Health Science” with the decision of the Council of Ministers numbered 2012/3620 dated 08.08.2012 which published in the Official Gazette No. 28407 dated 10.09.2012, started education as "Istanbul Gelisim University School of Health Sciences" in 2012-2013 Academic Year.
In the 2012-2013 Academic Year, students were enrolled in “the Departments of Nursing, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Social Work” to our School.
In the 2013-2014 Academic Year, six departments were formed in our school with the inclusion of “the Audiology Department”.
In the 2014-2015 Academic Year, with the inclusion of "Health Management and Health Institutions Management * Departments”, a total of eight departments have been formed in our School (* In 2015, with the decision of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), these two departments were combined under the name of Health Management.)
In addition; with the inclusion of “English Departments for Nursing, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Social Work”, which were firstly opened departments, our Faculty had a total of twelve departments, in the 2014-2015 Acacemic Year.
In the 2015-2016 Academic Year, “the Occupational Therapy Department” was added and our Faculty had thirteen departments in total.
In the 2017-2018 Academic Year, ith the addition of “the Departments of Orthotics-Prosthetics and Perfusion”, there were fifteen departments in our Faculty.
In the 2018-2019 Academc Year, with the addition of “Speech and Language Therapy and Gerontology Departments”, our Faculty has reached seventeen departments.
On 15.02.2018, 13 departments have been fully accredited by the AHPGS (Accreditation Agency in the Area of Health and Social Sciences) Accreditation Agency. You can access related Accreditation information on AHPGS Web Page.
Our Faculty, which took its first step in the 2012-2013 Academic Year with 190 students, has continued with 3235 students in the 2019-2020 Fall Semester and 3274 students in the 2020-2021 Fall Semester.
"School of Health Sciences" was transformed into a "Faculty of Health Sciences" with the President's Decision No. 3203, published in the Official Gazette No. 31315 dated 25.11.2020.
