Qualified health services are one of the fundamental needs of societies and at the same time a basic human right. Health services aim to protect or improve health through the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, physical and mental disorders, and various conditions. Raising individuals’ quality of life and providing the necessary qualified health services is the fundamental goal of health systems.

As in the rest of the world, the need for health services is increasing day by day in Türkiye as well. Especially the epidemics and disasters experienced in the recent past once again revealed the importance of health services. This situation leads to the need for much more qualified health personnel in both private and public health services.
As of the 2025–2026 academic year, Istanbul Gelisim University has been entitled to receive full accreditation for 5 years by YÖKAK (Higher Education Quality Council). In the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, it is ranked in the 401–500 band worldwide. The Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Health Sciences, with the aim of training qualified health science graduates, began its education as the “Istanbul Gelisim University School of Health Sciences” in the 2012–2013 academic year and was transformed into the “Faculty of Health Sciences” as of 2020. It currently serves with 10 departments, three of which (Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing) have held AHPGS (Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences) accreditation since 2018. In four of these departments (Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing), education is offered in two languages: Turkish and English.

Health education is a specialized field of adult education in terms of instructional principles and methods. As in all of Istanbul Gelisim University, education and training in the Faculty of Health Sciences are carried out in accordance with the Higher Education Legislation, Bologna Criteria, YÖKAK Institutional Accreditation Standards, and the “Program Accreditation Standards” relevant to the departments. The curricula within the faculty are managed in line with the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TQF) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF), and are presented in a transparent, measurable, and accountable manner.

The Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Health Sciences welcomes its students with a staff consisting of scientists who have achieved numerous national and international successes in the field of health sciences, as well as expert physicians and health professionals with extensive professional experience in the health field. Through education programs that prioritize ethical values and therapeutic communication, laboratories equipped with advanced technology where practical courses are conducted, social activities, seminars, and conference programs, the faculty prepares its students for the future. In this way, it provides a healthy and strong learning environment necessary for graduates to acquire the academic and professional competencies required in the field of health.
