The online event titled “Observation and Agenda in Social Work”, organized by the Istanbul Gelisim University Department of Social Work, was held on 3 November at 19:30 with the participation of retired social worker Nihat TARIMERİ, who lived in Switzerland for many years. Lasting for more than two hours, the event attracted significant interest from both students and faculty members, particularly due to its comparative discussion of social work practices in Turkey and Switzerland.
During the seminar, SHU Nihat TARIMERİ provided comprehensive insights on topics such as social work legislation in Switzerland, field practices, principles of multidisciplinary work, and inter-institutional coordination. His comparisons with his professional experiences in Turkey offered students an important perspective.
Approximately 45 participants attended the event, including faculty members and students from the department, who contributed through their questions and comments. The breadth of topics covered and the level of engagement from participants strengthened the view that similar sessions should continue in the coming days. As the Department of Social Work, we plan to maintain such activities in order to support the professional development of our students and academic staff.
