The event titled "Reflecting on Gendered Language on Social Media" was organized by the Istanbul Development University Social Work Club in the Tusi Conference Hall in Block E on Tuesday, March 27, 2024.

The event was attended by both department students and faculty members. Commencing at 14:00, the event began with an opening speech by moderator Assistant Professor Yonca Güneş Yücel Atalay. Subsequently, the presentation related to the bulletin was carried out by Assistant Professor Ayşe Aydın from the Department of Sociology at IGU Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences. The discussion focused on the research of guest speaker Assistant Professor Ayşe Aydın, entitled "An Examination of the Use of Sexist and Profane Language in Combating Violence against Women: A Case Study of the Şule Çet Solidarity Platform," where findings and information regarding the content were conveyed. Assistant Professor Ayşe Aydın emphasized the importance of raising awareness in this field by drawing attention to the points where gendered profanity and language, used thoughtlessly on social media, reproduce gender inequality. Following the information sharing by the guest speaker, a question-and-answer session was conducted between students and the speaker under the coordination of the moderator. Questions posed by students generally aimed to reveal effective steps in combating gender inequality in the process of individual and societal dynamics, and they were discussed. After answering the questions, the event concluded with thanks extended to Assistant Professor Ayşe Aydın.
