Cooperation Meeting Held Between IGU Department of Social Work and Eyüpsultan Municipality
A meeting was held between the Department of Social Work at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Health Sciences and Eyüpsultan Municipality to strengthen university–municipality cooperation.
During the meeting between the Department of Social Work at Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Health Sciences and Eyüpsultan Municipality, the needs and recommendations regarding joint projects, research, and educational activities that could be carried out within the scope of university–local government cooperation were discussed.
The meeting, held on August 28, 2026, focused on bringing academic knowledge in the field of social work together with local government practices, developing initiatives addressing the social needs of the local community, and strengthening cooperation between the university and the municipality.
The meeting was attended by Çağdaşcan Elmalı, Deputy Mayor of Eyüpsultan Municipality, and Öznur Sarıahmetoğlu, Director of Social Services at Eyüpsultan Municipality. Representing the Department of Social Work at IGU Faculty of Health Sciences were Prof. Dr. İsmet Galip Yolcuoğlu, Dr. Emrah Tüncer, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Al Rebholz, Dr. Yonca Güneş Yücel Atalay, and Research Assistant Fatma Türkan Özırmak.
The meeting addressed various opportunities for cooperation, particularly in joint research and project development, educational activities, field practices, and initiatives in the field of social work.
The meeting is expected to contribute to strengthening academic–local government cooperation between the IGU Department of Social Work and Eyüpsultan Municipality, supporting students’ field experience, and increasing community-oriented initiatives.
