"The Therapeutic Use of Water: Aquatherapy"
The event titled "The Therapeutic Use of Water: Aquatherapy" was held by the Occupational Therapy Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Istanbul Gelişim University with the participation of Occupational Therapist and Aquatherapist Ceren Ayvalı.
An online event on "The Therapeutic Use of Water: Aquatherapy" was held on March 31, 2022 by the Department of Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Health Sciences, Istanbul Gelişim University. Occupational therapist and Aquatherapist Ceren Ayvalı, who participated in the event as a speaker, shared general information about the effect of aquatherapy on the human body and its importance in occupational therapy with the students.
Ceren Ayvalı mentioned the following in her presentation: “Aquatherapy is a method of treating diseases and functional losses by making use of the physical properties of water. Water is one of the oldest methods used for treatment in physical therapy. The heat and hydrostatic properties of the water are utilized. With the help of the buoyant force of the water, the load carried by the body decreases, it is possible to perform movements that cannot be done normally or cause a lot of pain while doing it. .
At the end of the presentation, the students discussed with Occupational Therapist and Aquatherapist Ceren Ayvalı about occupational therapists receiving aquatherapy training.
The event ended with Res. Asst. Selen Aydöner thanking our guest for her presentation and the important information she shared.
