The event was attended by Prof. Dr. İzzet Gümüş, Director of the Institute of Graduate Education, and Asst. Prof. Anıl Çetin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Graduate Education, as guest speakers. During the session, students’ questions regarding the transition to graduate education were addressed.
The information session was delivered by Asst. Prof. Anıl Çetin. The presentation covered the structure of thesis and non-thesis master’s programs, application requirements, evaluation and admission procedures, course workloads, and interview processes. In addition, the role of graduate education in academic career planning, preparation for the research process, and key considerations for progression to doctoral studies were discussed.
In the continuation of the presentation, Asst. Prof. Anıl Çetin emphasized that graduate education is not only the next academic step, but also a process of developing a research culture, engaging in scientific production, and achieving specialization. He highlighted the importance of defining academic goals at an early stage in order to make informed and appropriate program choices.
During the event, Assoc. Prof. Hatice Merve Bayram, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, underlined the importance of graduate education in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics in terms of professional specialization and the development of scientific competence. She emphasized that graduate education should be considered not merely as an academic title, but as a comprehensive process that fosters critical thinking skills, strengthens research capacity, and encourages active contribution to scientific knowledge. She invited students to view graduate education as a long-term investment in their professional development.
The program also included information on thesis supervision, academic communication, scientific writing skills, time management, and the role of personal development in the graduate education process. Furthermore, students were informed about Istanbul Gelişim University’s library resources, research infrastructure, and academic support opportunities.
At the end of the event, during the question-and-answer session, students had the opportunity to directly ask questions regarding graduate applications, academic planning, and career pathways. It was stated that the feedback received from students would contribute to the planning of future academic guidance and information activities.
