Scientific Contributions from Nursing Students under the Supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neşe KISKAÇ, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at

Senior students of the Nursing Department at Istanbul Gelişim University Faculty of Health Sciences made remarkable presentations at the international level with two separate scientific studies under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Neşe KISKAÇ.

At the International 4th Avicenna Congress on Medical and Health Sciences, held between April 17–20, 2025, the study titled "Evaluation of Postgraduate Theses on Occupational Accidents in Health Services", presented by Şeymanur DOĞAN, Fatemeh RAJABNEZHAD, Samet ARSLAN, and Yunus Emre ÖZTÜRK, thoroughly examined occupational accidents encountered by healthcare workers. The study emphasized the necessity of strengthening occupational health and safety training for nurses, increasing the use of personal protective equipment, and providing psychological support.

Another important presentation took place during the 5th International Palestra Scientific Research Congress, held on May 4–5, 2025. The graduation thesis titled "Digital Anxiety and Bodily Threat: The Interaction Between Breast Cancer Fear and Cyberchondria in Women", presented by Merve ÖZERDEM, Dilan ORHAN, and Refika KARAHAN, explored the relationship between women’s health anxieties and their search for medical information online. According to the research findings, as the fear of breast cancer increased in women, their levels of cyberchondria also rose. This suggests that anxiety related to breast cancer may lead women to excessive and uncontrolled online information seeking. The study highlighted the importance of nurses introducing reliable information sources, supporting digital health literacy, and conducting psychoeducational programs to help manage fears related to breast cancer. Additionally, it emphasized the need to encourage regular screenings and medical check-ups to contribute to early diagnosis awareness.

Both studies, conducted under the academic guidance of Assoc. Prof. Neşe KISKAÇ, stand as concrete examples of how nursing students can enhance their scientific awareness and make meaningful contributions to healthcare services on international platforms.
