“Montessori Materials Workshop” was held

Ferdane TOPRAKKAYA ÇİMEN, a Montessori instructor and a 4th grade student of Child Development (TR), attended the Montessori materials workshop as a speaker. Our teachers and department students participated in the event where Lec. Buse KERİGAN was responsible for the workshop.
 
Inside the workshop; It started by giving information about Maria Montessori's life and education process. Montessori's educational philosophy was mentioned and detailed information was given about the materials used. Information about the usage areas of the materials brought by ÇİMEN is given and how the materials are used is explained. The materials are divided into groups, these are; It is mentioned that according to the areas of daily life, sense, mathematics, language and cosmic, children are placed on the shelves from left to right, from concrete to abstract, from simple to complex. Daily life skills materials; Emphasizing the importance of Montessori education because it provides a comfortable transition for the child between home and school, it is stated that these are the tools that the child always comes across at home.
Sensory education materials; it has been said that there are materials that affect the child's five sense organs and make them work and strengthen and refine the detail scale of sense perception. Mathematics materials; not with the prejudice that the child is difficult to do mathematics, he conveyed that it is a simple and easily understandable material that enables him to learn mathematics as a kind of game, an enjoyable job.  

Grammar materials; They are materials that teach children new concepts and new words in a natural process, expand and strengthen their vocabulary. Cosmic educational materials; They are interesting and inspiring materials that present the perfect formation and details of the world to children, enabling them to relate to reality.
 
After giving information about the functions and usage of the materials, ÇİMEN gave guidance to the participants to use the materials. We would like to thank all our teachers and students who participated in the event.
