A Research Assistant from the Department of Child Development Presents Oral Presentation at the 6th International Bursa Scientific Research Congress

Research Assistant Hatice Zelal BİNGÖL from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Child Development, presented an oral paper titled 'Nature Integration in the Preschool Education Program: Biophilia and Biomimicry Approaches' at the 6th International Bursa Scientific Research Congress. The full text of the presented paper was published in the Proceedings Book.

The research focuses on the significance of integrating biophilia, which represents a connection to nature, and biomimicry, which refers to drawing inspiration from nature, into educational programs. Bingöl emphasized that the preschool period is critical for enhancing children’s connection to nature, fostering environmentally conscious individuals, and developing creative thinking skills.

In her presentation, she highlighted that the biophilia approach enables children to build a strong bond with nature, increases their motivation to explore it, and strengthens their environmental awareness. Furthermore, the biomimicry approach, inspired by nature, provides a foundation for creating innovative and sustainable solutions.

Bingöl stated that integrating biophilia and biomimicry approaches into educational programs not only contributes to children's personal development but also significantly impacts societal awareness of environmental issues. She concluded her presentation with a quote from Mustafa Kemal Atatürk: “Protecting the environment is a necessity of reason. Trees, flowers, and greenery represent civilization.”
