The meeting covered research and application centers, BAP application and implementation processes, funding opportunities and grant amounts, relevant legislation, the activities of the Coordination Office, and expectations regarding the Faculty's research activities.
A comprehensive meeting was organized at Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Health Sciences to strengthen academic research through project-based support mechanisms and to provide academic staff with up-to-date information on research funding opportunities.
An information meeting for the academic staff of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Health Sciences was delivered by Asst. Prof. Serap Yeşilkır Baydar, Coordinator of Scientific Research Projects. Held in Classroom E210 in A Block between 10:00 and 12:00, the meeting provided comprehensive information on how scientific research activities conducted within the University can be more effectively supported and transformed into structured research projects.
One of the major topics addressed during the meeting was the role of the University's Application and Research Centers in scientific research processes. Opportunities for transferring the academic and technical capacity of these centers into research projects, developing cooperation between faculties and research centers, and increasing interdisciplinary studies were discussed. Expectations regarding the Faculty of Health Sciences were also presented, particularly in relation to making more effective use of its research potential and transforming existing academic studies into project-based outputs.
The activities and responsibilities of the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Office were subsequently introduced. Participants were informed about different BAP project types, preparation of project proposals, application procedures, evaluation stages, budget planning, project implementation and completion processes. Particular attention was also given to BAPSIS, the electronic system used for research project applications, and to the main points researchers should consider before submitting a proposal.
In addition to institutional scientific research funding, the meeting provided information on various national and international grant schemes available to academics, funding amounts offered under different project categories, and approaches that can help researchers identify appropriate funding opportunities for their research ideas.
National support mechanisms, particularly TÜBİTAK programmes, as well as international research and cooperation opportunities were also discussed. The importance of matching research ideas with suitable funding programmes was emphasized. Participants were reminded that successful project applications require attention not only to scientific quality but also to programme requirements, budget principles, implementation procedures, required documentation and compliance with the relevant legislation.
The meeting also addressed the regulatory framework governing the preparation, implementation and completion of scientific research projects. Academic staff were encouraged to regularly follow current regulations, calls and announcements published by the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Office. Questions and views from participants regarding project processes were also discussed. The meeting concluded with evaluations aimed at further strengthening the research culture of the Faculty of Health Sciences, increasing project applications and encouraging interdisciplinary and collaborative scientific studies.
