 Childhood Apraxia of Speech Seminar Held at IGU Department of Speech and Language Therapy


The Department of Speech and Language Therapy at Istanbul Gelisim University held an online seminar on “Assessment of Childhood Apraxia of Speech.” The seminar was conducted with the participation of Certified SLT Betül ÖZSOY TANRIKULU.


Important Information Shared on the Diagnosis and Assessment of Childhood Apraxia of Speech During the Seminar

The Department of Speech and Language Therapy at Istanbul Gelisim University organized an online seminar to keep its students informed about current developments in the field. The event, titled “Assessment of Childhood Apraxia of Speech,” was held on April 28, 2025. The seminar emphasized the importance of diagnosing and clinically assessing apraxia.

During the seminar, early diagnosis and intervention processes for childhood apraxia of speech, classification of speech disorders, and effective assessment methods were discussed. Participants were provided with information on how apraxia, a commonly observed speech disorder in childhood, can be identified through clinical observation. Through case analyses and practical discussions, students gained knowledge about various assessment tools.

Practical suggestions were given to students on how to approach childhood apraxia of speech in different age groups and which methodological approaches are more effective. At the end of the seminar, students’ questions were answered and recommendations for future work were shared.

The seminar concluded with the enhancement of students' knowledge and skills in the field.

By organizing such seminars, Istanbul Gelisim University continues to contribute to the professional development of its students. This seminar also laid the groundwork for future academic activities and further learning opportunities on important topics such as childhood apraxia of speech.
