The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Istanbul Gelisim University continues to be strongly represented on international scientific platforms.

Prof. Dr. Zuhal KUNDURACILAR, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Faculty of Health Sciences, Istanbul Gelisim University, actively participated in the 2nd International Congress of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, held in Ankara on April 2-4, 2026.

Bringing together distinguished national and international scholars in the field, the congress featured Prof. Dr. Zuhal KUNDURACILAR as a session chair together with Prof. Dr. Saadet Ufuk YURDALAN, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Istinye University, in the session titled “In Memory of Prof. Dr. Yasemin Buran ÇIRAK - Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in Cardiac Surgery: Optimizing Early Discharge.”

In Memory of Prof. Dr. Yasemin Buran ÇIRAK

The session was organized in memory of Prof. Dr. Yasemin Buran ÇIRAK, one of the pioneers of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, who made significant contributions to the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

Former Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Istinye University, Prof. Dr. ÇIRAK lost her life in a tragic traffic accident together with her spouse and children in January last year. During the memorial program held as part of the congress, her scientific legacy, academic contributions, and human qualities were remembered with respect and gratitude.
