In the first part of the program, Parkinson’s disease was addressed within the framework of diagnostic processes, epidemiological characteristics, risk factors, and clinical findings. In addition to motor symptoms, the critical role of often-overlooked non-motor symptoms in disease management was emphasized. While the loss of dopaminergic neurons underlying the disease and the associated neurophysiological changes were explained, the importance of current treatment approaches—including pharmacological therapies, surgical options, and rehabilitation practices—was discussed.

Rehabilitation and Clinical Practice Came to the Fore

In particular, individualized exercise planning and neuroplasticity-oriented physiotherapy approaches were highlighted for their contribution to improving quality of life. In this respect, the event went beyond being a program limited to theoretical knowledge and offered a holistic learning environment supported by clinical practice.

In the practical session of the event, the clinical evaluation process was demonstrated live on an invited patient with Parkinson’s disease. Observations and assessments conducted by Prof. Dr. Zuhal KUNDURACILAR and Assist. Prof. Sevinç ÜMİT concretely illustrated the clinical manifestations of the disease. Subsequently, Lecturer Sevdenur AKTAŞ presented physiotherapy and rehabilitation methods through practical demonstrations, allowing participants to experience the process more closely.
