“The average number of teeth in individuals aged 70 and over is 3.7”
In a study conducted with individuals aged 70-79 years in Turkey, the average number of teeth in the mouth of 216 individuals examined was 3.7. Assoc. Prof. Fatima Betül Baştürk stated that the number of teeth in the person's mouth does not always show the teeth that are suitable for chewing, and said, "About 44% of individuals over the age of 85 have chewing disorders."
