Department Head's Message


Dear students,
 
Occupational therapy is the only profession that helps people, through therapeutic use, to perform their daily activities (occupations) throughout their lives. Occupational therapy practitioners, aka Occupational Therapists, enable people of all ages to live life to the fullest by helping them improve health and prevent or live better with injury, illness or disability.
 
Our students in the Department of Occupational Therapy gain expertise in rehabilitation services, graduate and continue their careers as Occupational Therapists who are creative, innovative and committed to ethical values, can participate in teamwork, mobilize the power of society to make change, and have lifelong learning and teaching skills.
 
Our department is accredited by AHPGS (Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences), which is an international accreditation organization that is a member of the European Quality Assurance Association. “QS University Rankings, “World Universities Ranking 2021” Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) is among the top 300 universities in the Emerging Europe and Central Asia Ranking (EECA) in the list of world universities. Ranking 58th in the "International Academician" category, our University is also among the top 100 universities in the "Citations per Article" category. THE (Times Higher Edcucation) Istanbul Gelisim University ranked 96th among the top 100 universities in the world that "provide the best quality education" and became the 1st in Turkey. At the same time, we train our students in the International Occupational Therapy Department to take part in national and international scientific studies in the field of Occupational Therapy. Our graduates have the knowledge and qualifications to reach their educational and career goals at home and abroad.
 
Our goal is; Occupational therapy interventions, helping disabled children participate in school and social environments, helping survivors regain their skills, providing support to older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes, etc. Our aim is to train Occupational Therapists who can produce creative new ideas, love people, and improve the health and well-being of all age groups in the society.
