 Information Security Specialist warned: Banking operations are in danger


After the Whatsapp application submitted to its existing users the new data sharing policy, which will come into effect as of February 8, it has brought many discussions. Information security expert Lect. Tuğçe Yüksel, who gave information about the data to be shared and the problems that can be experienced in sharing, said: “The realization of security passwords with facial and voice information in the control of electronic devices, online commerce and banking transactions constitute this vulnerability.”

The instant messaging application WhatsApp announced that it introduced a new privacy policy for users outside the European Union at the beginning of last week and that it will share its data with Facebook and its companies as of February 8, which brought many discussions. Information Security Specialist and Information Security Program Head Lect. Tuğçe Yüksel from Istanbul Gelisim University gave information about the data to be shared and the problems that can be experienced in case of sharing. Emphasizing that the new data sharing policy and the privacy policy conditions approved by the users create a major security problem, especially in terms of video and audio recordings, Yüksel said: “The realization of security passwords in the control of electronic devices, online trade and banking transactions with facial and voice information creates this vulnerability”.
