Child Development Department Head Presented Research ECER 2026


Asst. Prof. Dr. Havva SAGLAM, Head of the Department of Child Development at the Faculty of Health Sciences, İstanbul Gelişim University, participated in the European Conference on Educational Research (ECER 2026), held in Tampere, Finland, from 17–21 August 2026. Organized by the European Educational Research Association (EERA), the conference featured the presentation of the study entitled “Exploring In-Service Physics Teachers’ Understanding of Students’ Alternative Conceptions about Heat and Internal Energy,” prepared by Asst. Prof. Dr. Havva SAGLAM together with Prof. Dr. Sevda YERDELEN DAMAR and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan OZEL, faculty members at Bogazici University.


The study, prepared by Asst. Prof. Dr. Havva SAGLAM and the research team, addressed in-service physics teachers’ knowledge and awareness regarding students’ alternative conceptions of heat and internal energy. The research examined teachers’ understanding of students’ misconceptions concerning these topics and emphasized the importance of addressing such misconceptions in educational processes.

The study was presented to the conference participants during the session held on 21 August 2026, from 14:00 to 15:30. During the presentation, information was provided about the aim, scope, and findings of the study, and evaluations were made in line with current approaches in the field of educational research.

Bringing together educational researchers from different countries around the world, ECER 2026 provided an important platform for sharing current scientific research in the field of education, enhancing academic interaction among researchers, and developing international scientific collaborations.
