Double Major

The double major program enables students to pursue two undergraduate or associate degree programs simultaneously. The purpose of the double major program is to allow students who excel in their primary major to also earn a diploma in a second field of study.

Istanbul Gelişim University offers the double major program to its students free of charge. Students with a GPA of at least 2.90 out of 4.00 in their primary program and who rank in the top 20% of their undergraduate/associate degree cohort can start a second major diploma program free of charge. Students who successfully complete the double major program and fulfill the requirements of both programs receive two separate undergraduate diplomas.

Applications for double major programs in law, medicine, health sciences, engineering, and architecture are not accepted from students enrolled in other faculties or schools. However, students from these faculties or schools may apply to double major programs in other faculties or schools.

To be eligible for a double major program, a student must have successfully completed all credited courses in their primary undergraduate/associate degree program up to the semester in which they are applying and must not have received any disciplinary penalties.

Minor

The minor program allows students to take a limited number of courses from another program while continuing their primary major. The purpose of the minor program is to enable students enrolled in one program to take courses focusing on a specific subject within another program at the same higher education institution, provided they meet the required conditions. Upon completion, students receive a certificate (minor certificate) rather than a diploma.

At Istanbul Gelişim University, students with a minimum GPA of 2.50 and no failed courses can apply to minor programs determined by the university senate for that year and complete the minor program free of charge. Students may apply to the minor program as early as the third semester and no later than the beginning of the sixth semester of their primary undergraduate program. Eligibility requires successful completion of all credited courses in the undergraduate program up to the semester of application.

Students who complete both the primary major and the minor program successfully are awarded a certificate in the field of their minor, in addition to their major diploma.
