1. What is the aim of the Child Development program?
The Child Development program is a scientific discipline that examines the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children from birth to adolescence. This program aims to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to support the healthy development of children.
2. Who is a Child Development Specialist?
A Child Development Specialist is an expert health professional who has graduated from the Faculty of Health Sciences and monitors and supports the physical, mental, emotional, social, and language development of all children aged 0-18. They provide the knowledge, skills, and support services required for children to grow and develop healthily.
Roles of Child Development Specialists:
- Understand and support children's physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Identify developmental stages and the needs appropriate for these stages.
- Detect developmental delays and prepare suitable intervention programs.
- Provide a healthy and safe environment for children’s growth and development.
- Offer education and rehabilitation services to children with special needs.
- Take preventive measures against child abuse, neglect, and trauma.
3. How long is the Child Development program?
Our university's Child Development program is a 4-year undergraduate program under the Faculty of Health Sciences.
4. Can Child Development graduates become teachers, and what are their career opportunities?
Child Development graduates can teach in private kindergartens after completing the Pedagogical Formation Education in the 3rd and 4th years of university. To teach in public schools, they must succeed in the general knowledge, general skills, subject area, and educational sciences exams of KPSS and be appointed based on the P121 score type.
Additionally, graduates can work as teachers, consultants, or managers in kindergartens and day-care centers; as Child Development and Education Specialists in special education and rehabilitation centers; as Child Development Consultants in hospitals; and as Child Development Specialists in NGOs and public institutions.
5. Are there opportunities for Double Major and ERASMUS+?
Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.90 out of 4.00 and who are in the top 20% of their undergraduate or associate degree program can start a second major program for free. Students who successfully complete the Double Major program graduate with two bachelor's degrees.
