Students from the Turkish and English Departments of Child Development participated in the event. The program began with Res. Asst. Şebnem ÇELİK UÇURAN asking students to share their expectations regarding the workshop and examples related to cyberbullying. Throughout the workshop, the definition and types of cyberbullying, its causes, individual and social dangers, studies in the literature, and real-life examples of cyberbullying encountered in daily life were discussed. In addition, the factors that lead adolescents to cyberbullying and the psychological effects experienced by cyber victims were examined.
During the event, correct and safe use of social media, protecting personal boundaries in digital environments, and developing awareness toward online content were addressed. Moreover, the effects of cyberbullying on adolescents were emphasized, and the importance of digital parenting, family awareness, and information on the security, privacy, and ethical rules of social media applications were shared. At the end of the workshop, students prepared poster works aiming to raise awareness about cyberbullying.
Actively participated in by the attendees, the workshop aimed to strengthen students’ awareness of ethical and safe behavior in the digital world.
