Between October 16–18, 2025, the Department of Child Development, Faculty of Health Sciences, participated in the 6th International Child Development Congress hosted by Konya Selçuk University, with the theme “From Roots to the Future: Protection and Well-Being of the Child.” The department’s academic staff contributed to the congress with a total of eight presentations.
Prof. Dr. Makbule Meziyet ARI attended the congress as a Member of the Honorary Committee, and Prof. Dr. Nefise Semra ERKAN as a Member of the National Scientific Committee. During the panel titled “Our Roots Speak,” ARI, serving as moderator, discussed the development and transformation of the Department of Child Development.

A research study titled “Evaluation of the Relationship Between Parent-Child Communication and Health Education Knowledge of 60–72 Month-Old Children” conducted by Dr. Lect. Nurten ELKİN, Spec. Buse BULAT, Res. Asst. Hatice Zelal BİNGÖL, Res. Asst. Şebnem Çelik Uçuran, Spec. Bedriye Çelik, Prof. Dr. Nefise Semra ERKAN was presented as an oral presentation.
Another study titled “Examination of the Relationship Between Anxiety and Aggression Levels of 3–6-Year-Old Children and Parental Attitudes” conducted by Dr. Lect. Nurten ELKİN, Spec. Buse BULAT, Res. Asst. Hatice Zelal BİNGÖL, Res. Asst. Kevser Tuğba ÇINAR KARASU, Res. Asst. Rabia Ceren ÇAVGA, Res. Asst. Aişe Büşra CİĞER, Prof. Dr. Makbule Meziyet ARI was also presented as an oral presentation.
Prof. Dr. Nefise Semra ERKAN was one of the authors of the study titled “Perceptions of Competence of Child Development Specialists Working in the Field of Special Education Regarding Specific Learning Disabilities,” which was presented as an oral presentation.
The study titled “Being a Child in a War Environment: A Qualitative Analysis on the Representation of Child Characters in War-Based Films,” co-authored by Res. Asst. Hatice Zelal BİNGÖL, was presented by BİNGÖL. Additionally, the studies titled “Examining Researcher Experiences in Studies Conducted with Children: A Phenomenological Study” and “Trends in Research Published in Indexed Journals in the Field of Child Development: A Document Analysis” were also presented as oral presentations.
The studies co-authored by Res. Asst. Kübra ALDIRMAZ, titled “Artificial Intelligence-Based Interventions Designed for Children: Early Intervention and Educational Approaches” and “Compassion-Focused Parenting from the Perspective of Mothers,” were also presented as oral presentations.
