Celebrated for the first time in Türkiye in 2014, World Audiologists Day was once again marked by a lively event organized by the Department of Audiology, Faculty of Health Sciences at Istanbul Gelisim University.
The program began with an opening speech delivered by Prof. Ümit TAŞKIN, Chair of the Department of Audiology. In his speech, Prof. TAŞKIN emphasized that the field of audiology has been gaining increasing importance with advancing technology and that audiologists play an active role in early diagnosis and rehabilitation processes.
He also underlined that audiology is not limited to hearing tests but rather provides a comprehensive healthcare service that improves individuals’ quality of life.
Audiology students added color to the event with posters they designed to raise awareness about the profession. Participants showed great interest in the students’ creative works promoting the significance of audiology to society.
One of the most delightful moments of the day was the cutting of a cake specially prepared for World Audiologists Day on October 10. Faculty members and students strengthened their sense of solidarity, teamwork, and unity through this symbolic activity.
At the end of the event, the faculty members of the Department of Audiology drew attention to the importance of adhering to scientific ethical values and continuous professional development while training future audiologists.
The day concluded with a group photo session, immortalizing the joyful moments shared by all participants.
The celebration ended with heartfelt thanks to all audiologists who work devotedly in the field of hearing and balance health.
