The Audiology Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences of Istanbul Gelisim University, which aims to train specialists in the field of hearing and balance health, successfully completed the 2024–2025 academic year. During this period, students experienced both academic and social development, benefiting from the opportunities offered by university life.
Throughout the year, students in the Audiology Department had the opportunity to learn various technical subjects both theoretically and practically, including hearing tests, audiometric measurements, balance systems, and hearing aid technologies. Thanks to the up-to-date devices and testing systems used in clinically supported practical courses, students gained valuable hands-on experience in their professional field.
In addition, they participated in projects involving different areas of health sciences to help them understand the multidisciplinary nature of audiology. Individual and group assignments completed throughout the semester also offered students essential academic gains such as conducting research, analyzing data, and developing presentation skills.
The campus of Istanbul Gelisim University stood out not only as an academic setting but also as a space for socialization, collaboration, and personal development. Audiology students actively participated in various student clubs, contributed to social responsibility projects, and took part in cultural events organized throughout the university.
Seminars, career days, talks, and health-themed awareness activities helped students develop a broader perspective not only on their profession but also on society and human relationships. Events organized as part of Hearing Health Awareness Week attracted significant attention.
Throughout the academic year, students regularly met with their academic advisors to receive one-on-one support on course content, career planning, and departmental developments. With access to the university’s digital library, laboratory infrastructure, and student support centers, Audiology students were able to pursue their education in a more organized and conscious manner.
Orientation programs conducted across the faculty, in particular, helped first-year students adapt to university life. Upper-year students, on the other hand, strengthened the sense of solidarity by sharing their experiences.
Preparations for the 2025–2026 academic year are already underway. The Audiology Department aims to continue supporting students in the next term with a curriculum that closely follows current professional developments, emphasizes ethical values, and is based on hands-on training.
For students who wish to pursue a career in healthcare, the Audiology Department will continue to offer a rich and supportive environment both academically and socially.
