History
Istanbul Gelisim University School of Health Sciences was established following the publication of the Council of Ministers Decision No. 2012/3620, dated 8 August 2012, in the Official Gazette No. 28407 dated 10 September 2012, and commenced its educational activities in the 2012–2013 Academic Year.
The Turkish Program of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation began admitting students in the 2012–2013 Academic Year, adopting an educational approach aligned with modern teaching principles and internationalization standards. In order to enhance the diversity of educational opportunities within the Department, the English Program of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation was established within the School of Health Sciences in the 2014–2015 Academic Year.
The Turkish Program of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation graduated its first students in the 2015–2016 Academic Year. As an indication of the Program’s compliance with international standards of educational quality, it was awarded full accreditation by AHPGS (Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences) in the 2017–2018 Academic Year.
The English Program of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation graduated its first students in the 2019–2020 Academic Year.
The School of Health Sciences was restructured as the Faculty of Health Sciences following the publication of Presidential Decision No. 3203, dated 24 November 2020, in the Official Gazette No. 31315 dated 25 November 2020. Since then, the Turkish and English Programs of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation have continued their educational activities under the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Today, the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation continues to provide its students with high-quality and professional education based on contemporary educational approaches, scientific developments, and international standards.
