The event planned by the Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Nursing Club, started by the opening speech of Asst. Prof. Dr. Funda KARAMAN who is also consultant to Nursing Club. Head of Nursing (Turkish) Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Canan ORUKLU and Nursing (Turkish) Department Lecturer Asst. Prof. Dr. Aslı GENC conveyed their good wishes to the participants and in the meantime to speaker RN. RDN. Busra DEMIR.
Busra DEMIR, who graduated from Istanbul Gelisim University Nursing Department and Nutrition and Dietetics Department, has said in her speech that “I was settled in Istanbul Gelisim University Nursing Department with full scholarship. I started studying in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics as of my second year by taking advantage of the Double Major Program opportunities in our school. DEMIR, who successfully graduated from both departments, shared information about her resume.
“I had a very enjoyable time throughout my education life at Istanbul Gelisim University. During this period, I gained very important and good experiences. Our professors have contributed greatly to all these achievements.” She also shared information about her professional experiences.
DEMIR, who started working as a nurse after graduating from IGU Nursing Department, gave information about her transition to the field of dietitian. Continuing her professional life as a Dietician, DEMIR has continued saying “Whether Nursing or Nutrition and Dietetics, great importance should be given for both education and theoretical knowledge. Students should follow innovations, improve themselves and give importance to practices”. DEMIR, who continues her graduate education in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics, stated that she focuses on areas such as obesity, sports nutrition and child nutrition. DEMIR, who also received a Pilates training instructor certificate, also emphasized the importance of harmony between exercise and healthy nutrition.
In her presentation, DEMIR shared detailed information on "Healthy Eating", "Frequent Nutrition Mistakes in the Pandemic Period", "The Most Correct Nutrition Forms Suitable for Today's Conditions", "The Right Plate Model", "Suggestions to Strengthen the Immune System" and "Nutritional Supplements".
Explaining the concepts of healthy eating - adequate and balanced nutrition, DEMIR shared healthy eating rules. Explaining the nutritional errors such as "unconscious use of supplements", "imbalance of calorie intake", "drug treatment on a single food", "staying inactive" during the pandemic period, DEMIR conveyed the immune problems resulting from all these factors.
Explaining how people can create the right plate model suitable for them, DEMIR shared detailed information along with the studies on food supplements. After her presentation speech the event ended with Q&A session of the students.
