The event started with the opening speech of Nursing (Turkish) Department Lect. A. Mucella SOYDAN. Following SOYDAN, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Yuksel BARUT (Vice Dean of Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Health Sciences) and Assoc. Dr. Handan ALAN continued with their speeches. The event was held in Turkish and English, also Nursing (English) students Oguzhan BİLEN and Arman ERDOGAN contributed to the event with their English translations.
ALAN, mentioned about contemporary roles such as educator, guidance conselor, consultant, decision maker, manager, coordinator, human understanding, time and energy management skills as well as caregiver roles of nurses, who were fighting on the front lines during the Covid-19 pandemic process and whose professional importance is remembered once again, in her presentation. The theme “Nurses: A Pioneering Voice – Invest in Nursing to Secure Global Health and Respect Rights”, determined by ICN for the International Nurses Day, was discussed interactively with the students.
In the continuation of the event, the “Health Education Materials Development Contest” awards held among Nursing students found their owners. Plaques were given to the first, second and third winners determined by the jury in line with the models they created. Semanur KULA, a 2nd year student from the Department of Nursing (Turkish), who participated in the competition with the theme of “Reproduction, Growth and Development”, was the winner of the competition. Nursing (English) 1st year student Haseena NOOR, who visualized the “Structure of the Heart”, came in the second place in the competition. Nursing (Turkish) Department 3rd year student Mazhar OKAN, who won great acclaim with his three-dimensional mannequin showing the “Circulatory System”, finished third in the competition. Nursing Club advisor and Head of Nursing (English) Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Funda KARAMAN presented their gifts to the other students who participated in the competition with the models they created, accompanied by wishes and wishes.
At the end of the event, Istanbul Gelisim University music group “Grup Agah” took the stage. The event, which was held with the support of the Istanbul Gelisim University Music Club, ended after the concert.
