Introduction to the Department
Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) offers Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing Program in English. It is a four-year undergraduate degree program. This program values importance to interdisciplinary training and therefore offers nursing-specific core courses and non-departmental elective courses that are necessary to become graduate-nurses. Clinical practices are incorporated in the nursing-specific core subjects. The program offers clinical learning in both government and private health sectors, including hospitals, community centers, nursing homes and schools.
After fulfilling some rules set by the university senate, undergraduate nursing students have an opportunity to have a double-degree by studying in another program within the Faculty of Health Sciences.
In general, this program aims to teach nursing students to have a broader understanding of health, and the role and responsibilities of nurses in health care in order to become leaders to improve health locally and the globally. The settings of this program allow these aims to be accomplished.
