Child Development Department 2026-2027 Academic Year Fall Semester Orientation Meeting Held

Head of the Department of Child Development Asst. Prof. Havva Sağlam, Res. Asst. Kevser Tuğba Çınar Karasu, Res. Asst. Şebnem Çelik Uçuran, and Res. Asst. Hatice Zelal Bingöl attended the meeting. The orientation presentation was delivered by Asst. Prof. Havva Sağlam.

During the presentation, students were introduced to the general structure of Istanbul Gelisim University and the Faculty of Health Sciences, while information was provided about the aims and objectives of the Department of Child Development. It was stated that the department aims to train competent child development specialists who can assess and support children’s cognitive, language, motor, social, and emotional development, as well as self-care skills. In addition, the department’s fundamental educational goals, such as professional responsibility, ethical values, following scientific developments, respect for human rights, and individual differences, were emphasized.

During the orientation process, students were introduced to the academic staff of the department, and information was provided about academic studies, student projects, and various examples of achievements carried out within the department. Examples were shared from educational materials developed by students of the Department of Child Development within the scope of courses, as well as projects supported within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program.

The meeting also included information about the mission and vision of Istanbul Gelisim University, its sustainability approach, and its current position in international rankings.

Following the presentation, students’ questions regarding the department, the education process, and university life were answered by Asst. Prof. Havva Sağlam, Res. Asst. Kevser Tuğba Çınar Karasu, Res. Asst. Şebnem Çelik Uçuran, and Res. Asst. Hatice Zelal Bingöl. The meeting concluded after the topics students were curious about were addressed.
