Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), which stands out with its studies in the field of sustainability, hosted experts in the field within the scope of 16 October World Food Day. IGU Vocational School of Health Services organized a symposium on this important day by following the call of the "Sustainable Food Summit" organized for the 8th time in 2022 by the Food Quality Control and Analysis Program. In the event, which took place in 3 sessions, a total of 13 speakers evaluated water and sustainability from their perspectives.

The opening speech of the symposium was given by IGU Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin. As the honorary guest of the program, Yıldız Technical University, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Osman Sağdıç made a presentation titled "New Trends for Sustainable Food Production" in the first session. In the continuation of the first session, which included doyen names in the field, Uludağ University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Head of the Department of Food Hygiene and Technology Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tayar and Prof. Dr. Feramuz Özdemir participated and shared information about "Drought, Water, and Food Waste".
Different topics were discussed
In the second session of the symposium, which included comprehensive and informative sharing with different topics, Expert Molecular Biologist and Dietician Dilara Devranoğlu and Food Engineer and Chef Özgül Coşar, the fourth of the 2020 Masterchef competition, participated with their speeches titled "Nutrigenetics" and "Green Restaurant". In the third part of the symposium, Safranbolu District Agricultural Manager Mehmet Akgül gave information about "Soilless Agriculture", while Marmara Island District Agricultural Manager Food Engineer Elif Aslan gave a speech titled "Life Started with Water, Stop Wasting It".
