 8 March International Women's Day Event was Held


The "8 March International Women's Day" event, organized by Istanbul Gelişim University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Health Management, Nursing TR/EN Departments and IGU Youth Choir, was held on March 6, 2024, at the Mehmet Akif Ersoy conference hall. Valuable speakers, Public Poet Süreyya KAYA and Sociologist Ayla BAĞ, participated in the event. Bursa's Rejuvenating Folk Songs Project Community also took part in the event.


The event started with the opening speeches of Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Asst. Prof. Abdullah Yüksel BARUT, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Rıfat MUTUŞ and Rector of Istanbul Gelisim University Prof. Dr. Bahri ŞAHİN.
After the opening speeches in which the place and importance of women in Turkish culture was emphasized, Sociologist Ayla Bağ continued her speech with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's "O heroic Turkish woman! It started with the words "You deserve not to crawl on the ground, but to rise to the sky on your shoulders." Ayla Bağ, who is from Tokat, continued her speech with the legend of the Forty Girls, which is believed to give its color to Yeşilırmağa and is said to take place in the Niksar district of Tokat. Ayla Bağ, who conveyed the success stories of Turkish women and showed the power of women with each story, based on the special meaning of March 8 International Women's Day, after the legend of the Forty Girls, concluded her speech by expressing her happiness in being with young people.
The 8 March International Women's Day event continued with Folk Poet Süreyya Kaya's poems that touch people's hearts with their deep meanings. While Süreyya Kaya expressed the beauty of all corners of Turkey with his city beautifications, he also drew a unique, inspiring portrait of "woman", the basis of society, strong and aware of her power, with her poem "Mother". Folk Poet Süreyya Kaya, who finished his speech by congratulating all women of the world on Women's Day, was greeted with applause.
Following the speeches of the distinguished guests, the IGU Youth Choir and the Rejuvenating Folk Songs Project Community sang folk songs from various regions of our country under the leadership of Music and Folklore Expert Erdinç Ertüzün. The event, which turned into a feast accompanied by everyone who attended the event, ended with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the guests after entertaining moments.
